Drežniške Ravne is a village below Mount Krn at about 630 m. The Berginc house stands at the end of the village, where the road ends and the footpaths begin.
The drive from Kobarid takes about 17 minutes. The road is asphalt but narrow, and in places two cars can barely pass. You can't get to the house without a car.

The river is 10 minutes away by car. On the Soča there is rafting, kayaking, canyoning and fishing, and in summer swimming from the shingle banks of the Soča and the Natisone.
The valley was a First World War battlefield. The Kobarid Museum, the museum in Drežnica and the open-air museums at Zaprikraj and Kolovrat are close by.

For a day trip to Bohinj, the car train from Most na Soči through the Bohinj tunnel is a good shortcut.
